After the disappointment of Shoreham SC being unable to host the Western Area Championships in May because their new ramp would not be ready, we have been able to reschedule the Western Area Championships as part of the Langstone Harbour Race Weekend on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th August 2018 (the August Bank Holiday weekend).
The clubs in Langstone Harbour jointly host an annual weekend regatta which puts on handicap racing but has previously been used by several classes for their National Championships or for class open meetings. The event will be co-hosted by Locks SC, Langstone SC and Tudor SC. In 2018, as well as hosting the Wayfarer Western Area Championships, the Wanderer Class will be holding their National Championships during the event. ...read more
The plan will be to run 6 races in the harbour over the two days. Racing will be over championship style courses (laid buoys) and with a committee boat start. Those who want to stay over until Bank Holiday Monday will be very welcome to take part in a Charity handicap race around the cans.
Boat parking will be at Tudor SC which has the largest compound to accommodate visitors. Camping will be available at Langstone SC for a small fee. Socials will be shared around the three clubs.
The entry fee is likely to be in the region of £35-40 plus the UKWA levy but the entry fee will include some food.
