Hi
I have just got Wayfarer World. Has anybody any experience how to fit rowlocks? Is a place on the side deck strengthened? Can they go through the gunwhale?
Thanks
Chris
Hi Chris, I had one of the early Worlds and fitted it out from a bare hull. Rowlocks went in the gunwhale which to me was the obvious place. A friend machined the fittings up for me. There’s a sketch below. They were epoxied in place with a re-inforcing piece of timber underneath.
A piece of stainless tube might be sufficient – as a simpler alternative.
The standard position was in the side decks – not sure if there is a reinforced area for them. To me that did not seem a very good position.
hope that helps
Thanks Bob. The gunwhales seems a good way to go. I reckon a stainless tube fitted flush and glassed in under the gunwhale should work.
