MemberCan I please remind everyone of the rapidly approaching event at Starcross on the Exe Estuary. Some indication of numbers attending would be really helpful. Remember you can camp on site…tents need to be smallish !!! Catering will be good and a keg of Dartmoor ‘JAIL ALE’ in the club bar.
I have 11 boats who have expressed firm commitment thus far, please come and support the western outpost of the Wayfarer fleet. Traffic will be a doddle!…the ‘grockles’ or ”emmets’ (Devon or Cornish for holiday makers) have gone home.

InactiveExpect several boats from Parkstone, though we might be looking for a campsite away from that railway line – suggestions?

Where were you at the Nationals ?
It would be fantastic to have some Parkstone boats at the Westerns. As for camping. There are plenty of sites around but the one which caters for every type of camping from Colin’s motorhome to a small tent has to be Lady’s Mile Holiday Park which is about 4 miles from Starcross. There is a
website: http://www.ladysmile.co.uk/ : I have not stayed there but am told it is very good and has excellent facilities. It is also going to be nice and quiet at this time of year.!!!

MemberFor information of those coming to the Westerns. Sue and I will be at the Club from 1400hrs on Friday 15 Sept to welcome early arrivals. We will be either in the club grounds, or occupying a Hymer motor caravan just outside. For newcomers to Starcross, boats have to be walked through the tunnel under a railway line to gain access to the boatpark and the tallest vehicle that can get in to the carpark is a Citroen Picasso or Renault Megane Scenic.
Tobes, Alan, Colin, Your motorhomes can stay at the layby just outside the club as before or should there be a camp gathering at Ladys Mile just a few miles towards Dawlish you may want to relocate there.
The plan for Friday evening would be a stroll to the Turf Lock pub along the River Bank, accessible by foot or water only. Good food and real ale to be had.
Full cooked breakfast will be available on Saturday and Sunday mornings in the Starcross clubhouse. You will be given an access code for the shower and loo block upon arrival.13/09/2006 at 9:06 am #4751Anonymous
InactiveI understand that mobile homes might be available at http://www.coftonholidays.co.uk/. Only 5 mins drive from yacht club – camping available too, though Lady’s Mile sounds OK for that.
