Could anyone tell what length tiller extension I need to replace my existing one. Mine is busted but I left in in the boat at the club 20 miles away.
It is a MK1a 1992 Porters with a alloy tiller.

    Thanks Paul.

Mine just happens to be about 8 paces from my computer – it’s a telescopic extension (which I personally really like), a Ronstan X-10 (according to the label), and is about 700mm extending to 1170mm (website says 1220). The tiller itself (alloy, RWO) is about 1330mm long, and together they are about the right length, enabling a hiking position even sitting well forward. I wouldn’t want anything shorter.

Mine is about 43″ and I sometimes think that this is a tad too long, I think that 42″ is more usual.

That’s the beauty of the telescopic extension, John – you can adjust it to suit yourself and the conditions in which you are sailing :).
