We have a Plus S which needs the verticals of the tabernacle replacing. A previous owner must have had a major mishap such as mast stuck in mud or a low bridge and ripped out the tabernacle which was bodged back into place and reinforced messily with nylon chopping board and a runny glue. The damaged pin area has also been bodged with a big plug of fibreboard material which of course has gone soggy.
The question is can we replace the old tabernacle with alloy verticals as on a mark 4 and still be within class rules?

    Hi Pat,

Replacing the tabernacle with alloy verticals would be against the rules but if you have no intention of racing then you may use whatever you think fit. If you wanted to sell your boat at some point in the future then there may be an issue to be dealt with when a prospective buyer looks at the boat.

    Thanks John.

We want to keep it within class rules so hardwood timber and gelcoat looks like the way.
