I want to replace the old sheets on my boat as I think they may be too heavy.
What is the preferred thickness and length for the Genoa and mainsail?
Cannot help with lengths as not to hand but i would say the main needs to be long enough to have about 2 mts over the length needed to reach the cleat when the boom is against the shrouds.
Thickness 7 or 8mm, a nice running rope that maybe will not kink and jam in the blocks because it twists on itself!
Genoa, 6 to 7 mm thick, ideal is thin as you can hold and work without hurting your hands, a thick heavy rope will sag the genoa leech in light winds.
Ideal, tapered sheets like the spi sheets !!!!
