I’m having trouble getting prebend on my old gold Proctor mast,
The spreaders are set as the Wayfarer book recommends and I have the correct amount of tension on the rig, should I sweep the spreaders back more or do these old masts just not bend that much? In light winds I have a horrible vertical crease just behind the mast
I have a 12:1 kicker.
Hope someone can help!

Uncle Al W3854 here. CWA Class Coach since 1979. I am not that much of a fan of mast-pre-bend and have had pretty spectacular Wayfarer racing success with a very simple approach to tuning: My latest thoughts are currently available for “proof-reading” on my CWA web site at http://wayfarer-canada.org/KISS_NA_proof10.2022.02.24_092.pdf – ch. 3 specifically. Hard copy of KISS Your Dinghy can be obtained by following instructions at http://wayfarer-canada.org/KISS/buy_KISS2022.html
The horrible vertical crease comes from excessive luff tension, by the way09/03/2022 at 12:14 pm #35952Nathan GriffithsParticipant
