MemberApologies as ‘mast setup questions’ seems to be a constant source of questions. Just bought an old woodie Wayfarer , which has suffered a little over the years, but seems to be OK, apart from….. Firstly, is it normal to have to screw a 1/2 inch thick piece of ply under the foot of the mast to sit on in order for the mast pivot pin to be inserted easily? (I have screwed the mast foot track to the ply) Secondly, the mast (selden D14-C070-0514R) has a slight sidewards bend at around deck level, which is probably ok for day sailing, but what would the forum suggest? Chuck it and start again £££

ParticipantOlder boats had a mast that had no tennon on the heel so yes you may find you will have to make up the space.
