In light of the current weather forecast we are abandoning our planned crossing of the North Channel from northern Ireland to Scotland and on up the Scottish coast for a week….now coming up with different ideas for a last minute trip. The weather everywhere looks pretty poor, so we’re thinking of either the Norfolk Broads, a big river somewhere or the Med.
To save time on research does anyone know of any decent itineraries for 4-5 days sailing in the Med or on the Broads, Dart or similar?
Thanks!14/08/2014 at 11:06 pm #1189215/08/2014 at 10:12 am #11893Andrew MorriceMember
Plymouth is an excellent base: you have the whole tamar and its tributaries to explore (far far larger sailing area than the Dart) if going out to sea is not safe, and you can sail along the coast either east or west. West is a longish passage without shelter till you get to Looe, east there are more places to put in though the whole coast is very exposed to winds from S – W. We use Mount Batten slip, there is marina next door, and the Mount Batten Centre will provide parking for trailer and car (for a fee – hefty fines if you don’t pay!!).
Britanny offers endless cruising grounds.
