ParticipantI’m planning to make a custom cascade kicker system. What I would really like to known is exactly what sort of load there is on the kicker. This is obviously necessary to decide which blocks are required. Does anyone know or can advise?
Alternatively, which blocks have been used successfully in serious conditions?
I’ve been looking at the standard rating Ronstan 20mm’s, which have MWL 250Kg (higher than Harken / Allen similar ranges). Ronstan have high load versions, but although breaking load is much higher, the working load is only 20% higher.
Sorry if this is already somewhere on the forum, but I cannot find anything that directly addresses this question.
Thanks

ParticipantHaving made and destroyed an underrated cascade system, I can confirm you definitely need more than the loads offered by a Karver KB01 block (300kg breaking load) – they collapsed when loaded up on day 1 of the 2016 Wayfarer rally in the Netherlands!

ParticipantUseful data, thanks very much! The one thing better than learning from your mistakes is learning from someone else’s mistakes!
