MemberHi i have joined the forum as i am looking for a good seaworthy dinghy that i can potter round the local area and maybe further afield, I will be sailing solo i’m 6’3″ and pretty heavy,i live on the Exe so that would be my main sailing area but trips to the dart etc. will be regular so mainly coastal and estuary sailing.
i am told a wayfarer will suit me fine but before parting with my hard earned my question is. will a Wayfarer do the job?.
Any help advice welcome.I already have an 18′ gaffer moored in teignmouth but Im restricted by tides etc. and would like to be more spontaneous.

MemberWelcome on board, the Wayfarer can be sailed single handed and with reefable sails is fine on the water. However she can be a heavy beast to manhandle on shore even with a crew but if you are trailing and can use a car or winch it shouldn’t be too much bother.
Google Frank Dye and his epic single handed sail on the east coast of the US
