Does anyone know the approximate length for a gibe cord?
I am referring to a short piece of rope that hangs parallel to the main sheet (center sheeting) from the boom to a steel ring that sits around the main sheet. It’s only function is to pull the boom over in a gibe if the boom itself is out of reach. Unfortunately I have my boat disassembled for maintenance and I can not measure myself and I want to make a nice spliced loop before the boom is assembled again.13/04/2009 at 1:36 pm #7972Colin ParkstoneParticipant
To Mr Odd Vegetables,
Now I don’t say I am bragging but mine is 500mm long from eye to eye!!!
The ring at the end of the strop needs to be of a fair size and weight so as to not ride up when you move the sheet as it can jam in the first pulley on the boom!

Hmm, it isn’t the bragging about the length, it’s that fair sized ring that makes me worry… 😯
Thanks for the help.
