MemberI had an external up/downhaul on my previous mast. Dead easy to de-rig – just one little shackle. Following a wizard prang I now have a lovely new mast with internal system, rigged exactly as the W book.
Any tips for making derigging easier? I obviously have to unreeve the uphaul from the boat when taking the mast out but if I use a spliced/whipped loop as before I will have to unreave/reeve the downhaul every time the rig comes down.
So far I’ve considered using a loop on the uphaul for the pole to go through with the downhaul tied or clipped to this loop below the pole. Any other suggestions welcomed.

ParticipantI would say you have it right Dave, thou I would connect the uphaul to the loop as it is less ropes on the mast when towing.
Much the same either way.I do not like clips on the up/downhaul as the jib sheet can catch on them plus they can also fail,a knot is safer !
