I was wondering if anybody could help me.
I have just bought a second-hand Wayfarer dingy which needs a new boom. I have already had reefing points put in the mainsail, and would like a boom that would facilitate the use of two reefing lines.
Any idea of the best place to buy one, and approximately how much they cost? I also assume that all booms for Wayfarer’s are the same as regards fitting to the mast.
Being a new boy I haven’t a clue.
I should have mentioned it is a Mk2 SD 1990. Any other advice would be welcome.
Look forward to sailing her, as I have heard so many good things about the class.

David, You can buy a new boom from Hartley Laminates;
I would imagine they could supply it with reefing kit if you wanted.
You probably have a fixed gooseneck on your mast – so that should be ok with a modern boom.
I’m not sure if booms come with a kicking strap band and mainsheet sliders – but if you need them make sure they come with the boom.
Hope that helps.30/09/2009 at 8:32 am #8618AnonymousInactive
Sorry for the delay in replying to your post. (family illness).
Got hold of hartley marine and they have sorted me out with the boom, and have fitted the reefing kit for me..What a great bunch of guy’s, they are, very helpful.
I appreciate the link and advice, and am now up and running.
