I always feel la bit uncomfortable about using rudder fittings for anything other than the rudder. They are a crucial part of the boat, and I don’t like to do anything that might contribute to an untimely failure.
Is it not possible to mount the outboard on the transom with some timber pads for the clamps – off centre?
