I sailed on Barton Broad as a teenager. I have been back since but not recently. There is good sailing on the broad itself, but the river Ant required a lot of patience – trees. Last time I was there, some tree cutbacking had helped.
In short, not great for a Wayfarer.
If you have the choice – go to the Thurne;
Hickling Broad, Horsey Mere, Martham Broad
Then head for the Bure, Acle Bridge, Ranworth Broad, South Walsham.

Hope that helps.

PS don’t forget you will need a license.
