Dont know where you are travelling from but best suggestion, presuming you wont have a chase car, is to put in at Hickling and spend at least a day above Potter Bridge. Depending on the wind direction you may get up to Horsey Mere and the windpump (about 1/2 a mile from the sea at this point).

If you are here for 3 or 4 days, shoot both bridges at Potter Heigham and the Broads open up for you.

As Bob has said dont bother with Barton unless you have an engine to get you from Ludham Bridge to Barton.

There are plenty of areas to visit without going through Ludham Bridge. Malthouse broad is picturesque but without an engine can be a bit of a mare getting onto and off of.
