I well remember my first nationals at Falmouth.
Measurer took one look at my battered old fibreglass boat and said there were obvious things that did not measure,but it was not going to win anything so it did not matter.
That leads to only boats doing well needing to be measured.
It also seems to be the accepted way with Hartley wayfarers.

PS When I took it to Ireland,it went of the scales on weight.the rudder stock only measured because I took a saw to it.
Still had fun though.
