As a National Judge I totally agree that rules are rules…
However – if there are beat up Wayfarers that are not doing open meetings because they do not have measurement certificates then I say let them compete… at least in a few events. If they become regulars, and especially if they start moving up the fleet, then, naturally, they should get fully measured. That way the class gets a new keen competitor, and a newly measured boat.
I believe that if anyone is really gaining an unfair advantage and cleaning up on the silverware, then the class rules can deal with it.
Bouyancy certificates, on the other hanbd should be obligatory… and sample test carried out at every meeting.
